How was the sound of Velaviee born?
“..Well .. the birth of my sound is the set of all the musical elements that inspire me and with which I connect a lot. From the beat on my feet to the musical arrhythmia that hits my heart when a song is very good hahaha. I think that the current of connection between one song and another; what identifies the sound that represents me is the seasoning of Sebas Play's production in conjunction with the creative medley that is in me. A melodic line usually dictated by guitars and voice that gives way to the rest of the instrumental and the musical variations that we want to present. Caribbean-influenced percussions, funk-influenced basses, and backing keyboards sometimes based on Soul. ”
What music has inspired you?
As a little kid I listened to oldies thanks to my mom—excellent musical library. Influences from Los Nocheros which is a pop/folk group from Salta, Argentina; Caetano Veloso, Brazilian singer-guitarist renowned for his Samba, Bossa Nova, and Tropicalia; the king of pop Mr. Michael Jackson; uncle Bob Marley; the incomparable Rosario Flores with her Latin pop and flamenco that always moves my heart; among many others…
Leaning more into my own taste, I really liked Red Hot Chili Pepper, JLo, Black Eyed Peas. Sean Paul and his fusions of reggae/dancehall which fascinate me. And my great idols Amy Winehouse, Adele…
Currently, I’m really inspired by bands and artists like Nathy Peluso, La Rosalia, Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Masego, Tom Misch, Kaleo –which is an incredible blues rock band from Iceland. The truth is that there is very good music out there that I really enjoy
